Research Focus

I am working on the continuous production of monoclonal antibodies (mAb) using Chinese Hamster Ovary cells in perfusion systems. mAbs are one of the popular therapeutic agents for the treatment of cancer and immune diseases. Perfusion systems are increasingly being used for process intensification. Large-scale systems require liters of media, which is one of the cost-intensive items. The goal is to maximize cell productivity with reduced equipment sizes, minimal cell growth media consumption, and minimal perfusion bleed rate. For designing the design space for large-scale manufacturing, currently, I am working with spin tubes to identify critical process parameters for scaling up the mAb production. As the next step, I aim to develop cell metabolism flux models trained on lab-generated data for making scale-up and process variability predictions.
